This database server allows multiple people to share image collections over the Internet . You use it with the free Family Photo Buddy client where you can describe your pictures, run slide shows, make CDs, etc.
Family Photo Buddy automatically makes thumbnail and medium sized versions of your pictures for efficient viewing.
Your server and your users will want to be on a broadband Internet connection for acceptable performance. A few users at a time should be no worse than any other peer to peer traffic as far as your ISP is concerned. You will be limited by your upstream capacity.
You can secure your databases with passwords and logins for full privacy and security. Some users can be read only . You will have full control of your image databases, end-to-end. No third parties or external web sites will be in the way. Nobody will ask your friends and family for their email addresses. No fees beyond registration.
